Mystic Knight Maya - public release Alpha0.1a

So little time, so much left to do... but enough is enough. Here it is:

Download link: MEGA

Let me know if you need a different file host. I might upload it on google drive as well.

I setup a patreon page too. I made some public posts there as I go into more details there about the game and why I choose to start a patreon campaign.

During the patreon launch I'll be posting the game here and there on different forums and I'll stay active during those couple of days, so feel free to ask me any questions and give feedback about what you liked/disliked in the game.

Cheers!

  1. Alright let's see. I think that the foundation that's been laid out right now is a good one. Maya doesn't feel clunky to move around with, and the jumping and arcing of said jumps feel just right, as I was able to traverse the starting area with little to no problems. I don't seem to have a problem with any of the controls, at the moment.
I take it that there aren't any H-scenes right now? And that the demo ends in the first part of the greenery area?
Regardless, I think this is a good start, and I'll be watching and supporting this.

    1. Hey zig, thanks for the feedback.

There is 1 ero scene with the enemy in the forest stage.

The demo ends more or less there yes, but if you get the dash skill, you can go back to the beach and access a spot on the beginning of the game.

  2. Well its a VERY early build, but whats there is solid. Already having a Patreon irks me a bit, I hope the next couple of demos will still be publicly available

    1. I understand where you're coming from.

As for public demos, I think it's fair to say that there are going to be a couple more very soon.

    2. Hmm, I think opening a patreon after releasing a very early build is usually bad timing. That said, after reading your pitch (and knowing your infrequent update schedule lol) I do get the impression you genuinely need it as help for your passion project, and not the other way around.

I'm rooting for your Patreon but I do hope that you'll still stay as communicative and open about development as you've been so far since I've always enjoyed reading your updates. It always feels like non-paying followers are being walled-off as soon as a patreon is opened. Probably just being overdramatic here, I shouldn't take it so personally lol
I'll definitely buy the game once its out but subscription models have never sat right with me.

    3. Yeah I feel ya 100%, and I know you mean well don't worry.

But if I were to make a short case for the patreon, besides the basic pitch that I posted there, it would be:

      1) I already have a full fledged game released to my name, which I developed in private, and after launch made a free content expansion for it and the content that was voted for by the fans. So while yes it is an early campaign in the context of my 2nd game alone, I believe that looking on the whole since I started on the indie scene may paint a better picture of my intentions.
      2) If there was no patreon (or if it isn't successful) I was going to develop the game in private, so in that sense there wouldn't be public demo releases anyway, but even if there were, it would be extremely infrequent due to my routine. A campaign helps in both regards, where I can work consistently and make public releases.

Again, I relate. Remember that before being an indie game dev, I'm a fan of hentai games just like you. So I more or less share your sentiment regarding some patreon camping out there where the devs just pad development time.

In the end I want to make games, but better yet, I want to constantly release complete games that people can enjoy!

    4. Reading your thoughts on it I do get the impression you only have the purest intentions with it; You're basically just using the website the way it was intended to be used before people found all the loopholes in it. In hindsight I kinda feel bad for grilling you specifically over it, sorry :X
Will have to be a bit self-interested here and ask; do you still welcome suggestions like you previously did (within reason), or is that a privilege reserved to Patrons now? By that I mean just having the chance to be "heard out" and the idea to be reasonably considered, obviously not expecting any guarantees or anything
